Stories about bad luck and volcano rock?
Jarrah J asked:
On a recent trip to Hawaii I visited Volcano’s National Park, and our tour guide was talking about how superstition says that if you remove lava from Hawaii Goddess Pele will punish you with bad luck. He went on to say that many people don’t believe and mail the lava back and a number of the letters have been printed up in to a book for sale in the gift shop. Unfortunately he told us this after we had already left the gift shop. Is any one familiar with this book. What is it called and where can I buy it online?

Try this:
Amazon lists other books on this page that might be helpful to you as well. Or you could contact the Visitors Center at VNP and ask them to send you the book.

This is true. Having worked in the hotel industry on Maui for more years than I wish to reveal, I have had countless rocks mailed back from guests requesting that they be returned to end their streak of bad luck.
Go here for information about the book you are looking for.
